8 Months Old

Avery is 8 months old today! I can't believe that in 4 short months we will be celebrating her first birthday. I don't want to think about that yet!

Here are some things about Avery at 8 months:

  • She can stand up for a few seconds if we prop her against something.
  • She LOVES to play with the remote.
  • She really wants to crawl, but hasn't quite figured it out yet.
  • She loves to sit and play with her toys. When something is out of her reach, she tries to go get it.
  • She has started "talking" more. She says "da da da da da da" a lot. I've been trying to teach her "ma ma." :)
  • She likes to be thrown in the air and she likes for us to pretend that we're going to drop her and then catch her.
  • She has the cutest laugh.
  • Her hair is getting long. Bows will finally stay in for more than a few seconds.
  • She likes to take a bath in her pink duck. If you squeeze the bill, it quacks!
  • She still loves to eat anything except for peaches.
  • She has 2 bottom teeth coming in. They are probably about halfway in.
  • She has handled teething like a champ! No fever, no fussing.
  • She's our little angel :)

Our Weekend

We had a busy weekend! As I said in the last post, we went to a Halloween party Saturday night. But we were also busy Friday night and Sunday.

Friday night, we had a get together in honor of Jan Owen, our worship pastor at The Brook. Jan has resigned her position to focus on mission work. We will miss her so much! So Friday was her going away party with the Praise Team (Adam sings on the Praise Team).

Jan has had to buy "church clothes" for her trips (since we are casual at The Brook). Someone gave her this hat to complete her ensembles :)

On Sunday, Adam was kind enough to stay with Avery while I went to a sewing class. I've had a sewing machine for a few years now, but I've never learned how to use it. Now that I have Avery, I want to learn to sew so I can make cute dresses for her. So I signed up for a beginning sewing class at Hancock Fabrics. There were only 2 students in the class...me and a 14 year old girl. She was more advanced than me...she actually knew how to use here machine! Our project for the class was to make a tote bag with pockets using a pattern that the teacher gave us. I thought I did pretty good for my first sewing experience!

Flower Power

We went to a Halloween party Saturday night at our friends Heather and Israel's house. They have a farm in Taft, TN complete with a pumpkin patch. The party was so much fun! They had hay rides to the pumpkin patch where the kids could pick a pumpkin, an apple pie bake off, a costume contest and a showing of "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown."

We, of course, waited until the last minute to get our costumes. We've had Avery's flower costume for a while so she was set. Saturday morning, we went to the Halloween store and looked for costumes for us. I couldn't find anything, but Adam saw some hippie costumes. He said that we could be hippies and Avery could be our flower child. What a great idea! We didn't win the costume contest, but the costumes were a hit. I especially got a lot of compliments on my crazy pants. But of course, Avery was the cutest of all!

The Pumpkin Patch

Today we went to Tate Farms. We have heard people talk about it so we decided to try it out this year. It was so much fun! They have a lot of pretty Fall displays where you can take pictures, tons of good food, a store, pumpkins galore, a hay ride to the pumpkin patch, and much more. They have a lot of stuff for kids. Avery is too young for most of it, but she will love it next year! She had a good time and was so good the whole day.

I've got my pumpkin bib and I'm ready to go!

Waiting for our lunch

This was too funny!

Look at that face!

A house of pumpkins!

Trying to see how tall Avery is. I know she's taller than 2 feet.

Being silly!

It's hard to see, but the pumpkin patch is in the background.

This was a train for the kids to ride. Each train car was an ear of corn! Avery was too small to ride this year, but she will love it next year!

She couldn't ride the train, but she enjoyed sitting in the corn cars.

Just rockin' on the porch

She was so funny. She just sat there and rocked.

We can't wait to go back next year!
