Felt and Fancy

Is anyone else somewhat addicted to Pinterest like I am??  It's a great website with great ideas...recipes, organizing, crafts, fashion...just about anything you can think of.  I have a crafty side to me, so I started looking for different crafts that I could do.  Several friends and I decided to get together and have a craft night one night.  My friend Laura and I had seen some cute wreaths on Pinterest so we decided we wanted to make wreaths.  We had each made one for our homes already, so we decided to make one to send to our friend Rebecca who is working at an orphanage in China.

Melissa, Laura, me and Meghann at our craft night.  We are holding the wreath that we sent to Rebecca.

We kind of joked that night that we should start making and selling wreaths.  Well, a few days later, Laura told me that she found out about a craft show in our area and so we decided to give it a try!  So Felt and Fancy was born!

We worked really hard and made a lot of wreaths for the craft show.  We also made yarn wrapped letters and hair clips.  We had fun at the craft show and actually made a profit, so we were happy about that!  We have decided to stick with it and do some more craft shows.  We also have a Facebook page where we sell our wreaths.  This project has been a lot of fun and I hope we will continue it for a while.  I know a lot of people are making different crafts for their home, but I know that some people just are not crafty or they do not have time or patience to spend making crafts.  So those are the people that we hope will like and buy our items.  I will leave you with some pictures.

Harvestfest and Other Fall Pictures

Our church, Harvestfield, had a Fall festival the weekend after Halloween.  It's called Harvestfest.  It's set up in the parking lot of the church and it was so much fun!  There were tons a games that Avery could play and win prizes, there was a cake walk, pumpkin painting and a chili cookoff.

Participating in the cake walks.  We won a yummy cake!

Throwing the bean bag.  She has a good arm!

Even Daddy got in on the action!

Another highlight of Fall was attending a baby shower for one of my childhood best friends.  Lindy and I met when we were about 5 years old at Scenic Pool.  We instantly became good friends and have remained that way ever since.   Lindy lives in Mississippi now and I don't see her very often.  So I was very happy to get a chance to see her and catch up at her beautiful baby shower.  Her little boy, Davis is due in January!

One thing that we are very grateful for is our church.  Harvestfield has been a huge blessing for us as a family.  We have made great friends there and enjoy going there to worship every Sunday.  Avery loves going to church and usually doesn't want to leave!   One thing Avery loves to do is the get on stage and sing in the microphones.  She usually does this after church or during band practice, but I hope that one day she will be able to sing in church just like her Daddy!

Is this thing on??

Halloween - Part 2

Our next Halloween event was at Adam's parents' church, Hokes Bluff First Baptist.  The have a Fall Festival every year and the kids all wear their Halloween costumes.  They have a lot of different games, a cake walk, horse and buggy rides, prizes and candy.  Avery always has a great time!

On Halloween night, we went to my mom's neighborhood to trick or treat.  She has a great location to walk around and it's fun seeing all of the nieghbors that I grew up with.  Avery did great this year!  She loved saying "trick or treat" and LOVED all of the candy she got!

Halloween - Part 1

We had several Halloween events that we attended this year. It was a good thing, because Avery LOVED her Halloween costume this year! She has recently started liking the Disney princesses and since we are going to Disney World in January (YAY!), we thought we would get her a princess Halloween costume. Since she has dark hair, I immediately thought about Snow White. So Snow White it was! She still asks to dress up like Snow White...she actually had the dress on last night!

The first event we went to was a Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party! We are going to Disney World with 3 other families and one of them, Jeff and Melissa, threw a Disney themed Halloween party for all of us. It was so much fun! They went all out with Disney decorations, Disney food and Disney prizes. Sadly, Adam had to work and was not able to attend. We missed him!

Here are our hosts, Jeff and Melissa.  They had awesome costumes!

Josh and Meghann.  More awesome costumes!

Pumpkin Patch 2011

We have made it a tradition to always go to the pumpkin patch in October.  The past two years we have gone to Tate Farms.  But since we no longer live in the Huntsville area, it was too hard to find time to go there.  So we went to Down on the Farm in Rainsville on October 15th.  It was fun and had a lot of the activities that we loved at Tate Farms.

Avery had a great time this year.  She still talks about going to the pumpkin patch and every once in a while she'll ask to go back.  Her favorite part was painting the pumpkin that she got from the pumpkin patch.  She actually got to paint 3 pumpkins at 3 different events the year.  It is her new favorite activity!

Wow...Time Flies!

So it has been a really long time since I have blogged!  I started this blog to document our lives and I have not been doing a very good job.  A lot has happened since my last post...we moved to a different house, celebrated some holidays, and did some really fun things!  I'm going to start trying to catch up on everything!

Over the summer, we got to meet some new babies!  My friend Jennifer had her first baby, Cooper.

About a week after Cooper was born, Adam's sister had a baby.  She had a little girl named Katy.  That makes 2 girl cousins and 2 boy cousins for Avery!

So that was the baby excitement over the summer! I've got a lot more pictures and fun things to write about including new friends, a new (to us) house, Halloween, and Disney!  Stay tuned!

Summer So Far

We have had a busy summer!  I can't believe it is already July!

Our first major event of the summer was Adam's family reunion.  Every year they have a 2 day golf tournament and this year it was our turn to be in charge.  We originally planned to have it at the State Park in Guntersville.  We had it all lined up, had chalets reserved and were really looking forward to it.  The on April 27th, the State Park was one of the many, many places that sustained severe damage from tornadoes.  They did not know when they would be able to reopen, so we had to come up with a plan B.  So we moved the tournament to River Trace in Gadsden.  We still had a great time!

We thought the reunion was a lot of fun and a huge success!

The next big event we had was Adam's brother's wedding on June 25th.  Eric and Tana got married at Court Street Gardens in dowtown Gadsden.  It is a beautiful place!  Adam and I were both in the wedding and Avery and Mia were the flower girls.  They did great!  Avery held my flowers, walked down the aisle with me and smiled so big!  I was so proud!

We don't get dressed up often, so I made sure to get a picture!

Dancing at the reception.  Avery danced ALL night!  She had a blast!
We have several other big events coming up.  Today, one of my best friends is having a baby, next week Adam's sister is having a baby, the following week I will go to Nashville for a conference, and before we know it it will be August!
